Marcelle Renforcils Lash Fortifying Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover Review, Photos & Swatches

Published On January 26, 2012 | Reviews

I don’t usually test a product out for months in order to form an opinion on a product, but I know that sometimes that has to happen when it comes down to certain claims, like the Marcelle Renforcils Lash Fortifying Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover ($17.50 CDN), coming next month to Canadian drugstores, claiming to make eyelashes stronger and more resilient.  Stronger eyelashes = less fall out = fuller, healthier looking lashes. I’m in.

The Packaging

The product comes in a squeeze tube package, something you would see for a moisturizer or hair gel. In fact, it looks quite like a hair gel! I like the packaging a lot because you can control exactly how much you use, and by default, less wasted product.

The Product

The product itself is a gel consistency.  It is a micellar solution (I explain how these solutions work in my Marcelle Cleansing Water review)…so its basically the same principle as a cleansing water but in gel form (at the launch party, they said that they found with their testing that the gel medium was the best way to deliver the nutrients & strengthening properties to the root of the lashes).  It’s oil free, so you won’t have an oily-residue left over on your skin afterwards which is fantastic, especially for those with sensitive eyes (gone are the days of the dual-phase waterproof makeup removers)!

The directions say to apply it onto a cotton pad, then wipe away makeup. I don’t do this. I just found the cotton pad pushed all the product into my eyes and didn’t work so well. I just put a pea-sized amount on my fingers, and massage it into my eyelids/lashes (just watch the video review- I demonstrate how I use it)!

The Results

First things first, it works great as an eye makeup remover itself. I love the fact it has no oily residue and it really does get most of my waterproof eye makeup & mascara off (if theres a little left, my regular face cleanser takes it off).  It doesn’t irritate my eyes, sting or anything…so even without the lash fortifying properties, it’s still a winner in my book.

I have noticed that not a single eyelash has fallen out during my nightly cleansing routine since I started using the product. I used to have my lashes fall out a LOT and this has really stopped it.  I used to have a lot of ‘bare spots’ on my lash line….especially after I stopped using RapidLash…and they are all nicely filled back in now.  I don’t know what else to attribute that to, so I’m thinking this product does work for me!

Overall, whether it is the miracle worker behind my stronger, thicker lashes or not- it’s still a fantastic eye makeup remover and one that I’ll continue to purchase and use.  It’s like a soothing gel eye mask each night and I’m really happy with it.  As for the price tag, it is a bit steep for a drugstore product, but I’ve been using it for nearly 3 months and I’m not even half-way done the tube. This stuff lasts!

The reason why I use Clinique’s dual phase eye make up remover is because it removes the MAC liquid last eyeliner. Do you own that eyeliner or know if it’d remove it completely like the Clinique one?

I do own liquidlast, I haven’t tried it though. However… the ones I have tried it with are SUPER long wearing never-come-off-until-youre-dead-and-maybe-even-later eyeliners… as I like to call them LOL

Ahhhh I’d really love to try this one (my lashes could do with a lot of help), but Marcelle doesn’t ship out of the US/Canada *sniffs sniffs*

I wonder if this will ever come to America, or something like this.  The price is waaaay too expensive for me right now, but it looks fantastic.  I loose lashes a lot and it sort of concerns me, this product may be the solution. Thanks for sharing!

I think the price is reasonable, especially since you’re getting plenty of product and you’re seeing results.

I’m really excited for this, I’ve always used the Neturogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover, but maybe it’s time to try something new.  Especially this is Paraben free =).

For how long the product lasts I think it isn’t badly priced. I like the idea of a gel product – seems to make a lot of sense. The added benefit of stronger lashes just makes it even better!

I’m curious about why you don’t use rapid lash anymore? I’ve been using it forever and I don’t think I’d ever stop. I love my lashes too much! :)

    • http://www.beautezine.com/ Jessica

I started to get a little dry feeling in my eyes and I was suspecting it was that, and it was. Plus I wanted to try the UD lush lash system…but I honestly think I’m gonna go back to Rapidlash…dry eyes or not, those lashes were to die for lol

  • Josie

Lol, it’s tough to give up, isn’t it? I agree with the dry issue, I remember having that for the first month or so but luckily for me it went away. I do occasionally wake up with dry eyes or ‘sandman’ bits still but it isn’t irritating or painful. I’ve never tried another product so I can’t compare to anything else and I am so satisfied that I wouldn’t want to stop anyways.

Woud you perm your lashes again? I’ve never tried that. I saw a makeup artist (Lisa Eldridge) from the UK post a youtube video about getting a lash ‘lift’, where instead of perming and curling the lashes they were permed ‘up’, lifting them beautifully. SO lovely and fresh looking!
