mark. Lipclick Luxe Shimmer Lipsticks Review, Photos & Swatches

So here we are…my last product review for 2012! I thought these mark. Lipclick Luxe Lipsticks ($12 USD / $14 CAD) were just so pretty… and the sparkle & shimmer totally reminded me of New Years Eve, so why not!? These limited-edition lip colors are available in three luxe shades and have a super glam sparkle!

These lipsticks come in a metallic pink tube with a magnetized cap- so it stays on nice and tight, even if it’s rolling around in your purse or clutch! They are much smaller than any typical lipstick, but they still have quite a bit of product in them!

The shades include…

• Pink Icing: A bright, blue-based pink with blue shimmer. Gorgeous!
• Red Berry: Just as the name describes; this burgundy red hue would look fabulous for a fun twist on a retro look.
• Champagne: This pale, gold beige is a bit more sheer than the other two… but makes for a very frosty nude lip. I actually quite like it!

While these lipsticks claim to be full coverage, I really find they offer more of a medium coverage finish (they are buildable, but I wouldn’t say they are opaque). They have a very high-shine sparkle, which does feel just a tad gritty- nothing too bad, and they look super pretty so I don’t mind too much!

I’m really not a fan of the mint scent though- it’s not a nice mint. It’s the kind of mint you’d smell on scented dental floss… so yes, I guess my mouth feels like it’s minty fresh, but it’s just not appetizing! Their old, discontinued Dew Drenched Lip Colors (R.I.P; I miss them so much!) had this phenomenal mint scent that was so much more pleasant.

I’m also not too happy to see the prices rising so much with mark- I remember when lipsticks and lipglosses were $6 to $8, so I was surprised to find these at a $12 USD / $14 CAD pricepoint… while I still think they are worth that amount, it’s a little discouraging to see their prices creeping up (almost as much as a MAC Lipstick already)!

Final point (of the year, might I add)… these lipsticks are cute, fun, sparkly and feminine- I’d recommend picking one up if you can- we can all use a little sparkle now and then.
