There are very few things I actually collect, but the three that I shamelessly admit are 1) notebooks, 2) unique USB keys and 3) Maybelline Baby Lips.
I get overly excited when I hear about new shades of Baby Lips launching, so I bet you can imagine how much I’ve been anticipating the shimmery (and very pink) Crystal Collection. Luckily for me, they are totally affordable, so I don’t mind stocking up on a couple of each shade when they launch. While this collection is officially the Fall 2014 line, it’s available now at drugstores and mass market retailers all over (they are also available online at ULTA).
The limited-edition color collection includes six shades, each with a unique scent and packaging color. They include Crystal Kiss (clear), Gleaming Coral (orange coral), Pink Quartz (sheer pink), Beam of Blush (soft pink), Mirrored Mauve (mid-tone mauve) and Twinkling Taupe (warm, taupe-beige). Each shade has a hint of sheer color and a gorgeous shimmery, pearlescent look, yet they feel totally smooth on the lips (no grittiness)! The first three are much more on the sheer side, while the latter three have a tiny bit more pigmentation.
As a long-time Baby Lips lover, I’d say these shades are similar to most others that have launched in the past, despite having a shimmery texture. I know a lot of people say these balms aren’t quite hydrating enough for them, but I’ve always found them to be sufficient for me. If you suffer from very dry lips, you may not find enough relief in this formula. They didn’t appear as shimmery on the lips as I thought they would… it’s more of a pearlescent glow (combined with the regular shine) which is beautiful, but not the same time of shimmer you’d get from a gloss. What I love about these is that they’re great for all age groups- from pre-teens to moms who are young at heart.
As for my favourites… um… all of them? But seriously, if I had to choose, I’d say Beam of Blush and Pink Quartz win my (sheer colored and slightly sparkly) kiss of approval.
