Maybelline Fit Me Shine-Free Foundation Review, Photos & Swatches

Maybelline Fit Me Shine-Free Foundation

When learning about the new, upcoming products from Maybelline at a recent event, I couldn’t wait to get home and try out the new Maybelline Fit Me Shine-Free Foundation ($8.99 USD / $10.99 CAD)! Out of all the products, this one intrigued me the most, because not only did it look unique with the anti-shine core, but it’s not easy to find a good quality budget stick foundation these days!

I was hoping that it would be a quick and easy product to use that would leave skin looking fresh and flawless all day. This new foundation is available now (if you don’t see it in stores, it will be coming soon)!

This new formula comes in 12 shades, quite a good line-up (it is the Fit Me range), each in a plastic twist-up tube with a partially-clear cap. The product consists of a gel foundation stick (the skin-colored part on the outside) and an anti-shine serum core (the clear center). I was a little worried that the product would apply unevenly (since I had that problem with the Benefit Fake Up, however the proportions were reversed), but it actually glides on really nicely whether it’s directly onto the skin or onto a brush.

The gel textures is quite nice actually- it’s very lightweight and blends beautifully into the skin for a natural matte finish. The coverage is sheer-to-medium, which was really the only downside of the product for me. If it had a little more coverage, I would have been head over heels in love! The oil-free formula held up pretty good on my skin, and although it’s not a long lasting foundation, I do think it would be fine for daily wear. I prefer to glide it onto the skin and then use a foundation brush to blend it all out.

I don’t have super oily skin, but now that it is summer time I would say my skin is more on the combination-oily side and this foundation did a fairly good job of keeping it looking and feeling fresh for the majority of the day. I’ll still need to add powder for a super hot or humid day, but in general it’s pretty good. It’s definitely an effortless foundation, but unless you’ve got pretty clear skin on your own, you’ll need to reach for a concealer as well.
