Review: Maybelline The Blushed Nudes Palette

Blushed pink- and purple-tinged eyeshadow shades are staples in our spring and summer looks, so we were intrigued when Maybelline’s The Blushed Nudes Palette ($10) came across our desks. Twelve eyeshadow shades in matte, shimmer and satin finishes can be worn in countless ways — at least 13, according to the back of the palette, which points out the different quads, trios and duos that can be used within the palette for pre-coordinated ease. Obviously, these are just suggestions from Maybelline (helpful ones!), but feel free to use this palette any way you want.

When swatching the shadows, we found that some of the shades required a bit more effort to achieve payoff that was true to the color of the shadow in the pan. That being said, we found it to have a gorgeous mix of light and dark shades that can be blended with each other to suit a variety of skin tones.

A nude eye primer will definitely help you achieve even better results than we did in our swatches. As we all know, the shadows will have a base to stick to and extend your wear time drastically (we’re partial to this one from L’Oréal).

If you’re looking for an exact dupe of the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette, you won’t find it here—but that doesn’t mean its not worth checking out. While it may not be the best quality of shadows we’ve ever come across (it’s very similar to the original Nudes Palette), the fact that it can be found on sale since it’s a drugstore product definitely sweetens the deal for anyone who is looking for comparable colors to the Naked 3 without the high price tag.

The palette is available at drugstores and online at
