The NARS x Guy Bourdin Collection for Holiday 2013 includes the NARS Crime of Passion Face Kit ($59 USD / $68 CAD), a full-face palette with three eyeshadows, one blush, one bronzer and one lipgloss. This limited-edition palette will be available November 1, 2013 at Sephora (the Color Collection is available now from NARS). See the rest of the collection here.
This two-tiered palette comes in the standard matte black NARS packaging with a special “Guy Bourdin” design on top. It features a large interior mirror and a stacked interior- eyeshadows on top, blush and bronzer underneath. It’s compact and fantastic for travel- I really love seeing full-face palettes, especially when the entire palette is good quality overall.
The palette includes:
- Naïade Eyeshadow: Metallic rose mist
- Jezebel Eyeshadow: Shimmering sable
- Pandora Eyeshadow: Rich, matte black
- Deep Throat Blush: Sheer peachy pink
- Laguna Bronzing Powder: Diffused brown powder with golden shimmer
- Deep Throat Mini Larger Than Life Lip Gloss: Shimmering sheer peachy pink
I’ve been using this palette quite a bit lately, and I really like how it can be used sparingly for a soft, wearable daytime look, or it can be built-up for a dramatic, evening look. The eyeshadows were fairly good overall. Naïade is beautiful as a wash all over the lid or as a brow bone highlight because it has a slight sheen to it. Jezebel is a lovely warm brown that is beautifully pigmented, and although Pandora wasn’t too impressive when I swatched it, it actually worked really well on the eye (especially as an eyeliner).
Deep Throat Blush and Laguna Bronzer were both beautiful- there’s a reason these shades are so famous! They are really universally flattering. They aren’t extremely pigmented, which I actually like- because it makes them much more fool-proof to apply. When applied together, they give a gorgeous, natural-looking glow to the complexion that is complementary with any look.
I also really like the mini Larger That Life Lipgloss in Deep Throat– this shade isn’t available in the permanent line, so it’s a nice little bonus in this kit. It’s ultra glossy, moderately tacky with sheer-to-medium coverage color. The formula is designed to make lips look more plump and large, which I don’t really find is true… but it’s definitely a beautiful peachy pink gloss!
Not only would this palette be fantastic for gifting (the shades are quite universal and easy to use), but it would also be great for those who travel or like keeping a ‘full face’ compact with them for touch-ups or last-minute get togethers. Unfortunately, the palette gets pretty dirty really fast (if you’ve ever owned anything with NARS packaging- you’ll understand), but I’ll still be giving lots of love to this palette regardless!
