The NARS Fall 2013 Collection includes two NARS Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliners ($24 USD / $28 CAD). This limited-edition collection features an array of smouldering hues and matte textures for an ultra sophisticated and modern look. Available online and on counters July 15, 2013.
The two shades in this collection include Las Ramblas, a shimmery yellow gold, and Via de Martelli, a rich chocolate brown. Las Ramblas is the only limited-edition shade out of the two, and they both come with a built-in sharpener at the back end of the pencil.
I was a little confused at first to see a yellow gold eyeliner- mainly I was a little scared about how it could be used without looking like an eye infection, but the shimmery texture helps to make it look a little more like ‘makeup’. Unless I’m using it to brighten the inner corner or somewhere else as an accent, I don’t think I’d get much use out of this shade. It’s not very pigmented, it goes on patchy and I just find it to be quite an unflattering shade.
Via de Martelli was a little more appropriate for fall- I can see a warm, neutral eye completed with this shade and it definitely glides on more smoothly and evenly. The formula is quite similar to Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On pencils, and once they set they really will last all day. They have a few seconds of playtime to smudge and soften, but after that they will stay put.
Despite the fact they are super long, they actually don’t have much product in them, making the value quite steep. As much as I’m still a black eyeliner gal 365 days a year, I think I might try a few looks using Via de Martelli this fall!
