This Holiday season, NARS teamed up with legendary photographer Sarah Moon to launch an incredible color collection and gifting sets. I’ll be focusing on the seasonal collection in this post, but feel free to browse the amazing gift sets here too. The color collection features two eyeshadow duos, two blushes, four matte lipsticks, two eyeliners, two false eyelash sets and three nail polishes.
The collection features two NARS Blushes including Isadora, a soft lavender pink, and Impudique, a vivid pink-red. Isadora is a much more softer, muted shade that looks totally natural on the skin with a soft satin texture while Impudique is much more bold and has more of a radiant finish.
NARS Blushes have been iconic for many years, and with their silky, blendable texture, it’s no wonder why! These blushes feature a minimal “Sarah Moon” logo on the compact itself (as do the rest of the products in the collection).
Both shades are beautifully pigmented and would suit a large variety of skintones!
The two Duo Eyeshadows include Indes Galantes, a combination of iridescent grey and matte mulberry shadows and Quai Des Brumes, which features a soft lavender-grey shimmer and a deep charcoal grey with flecks of gold shimmer.
I was totally impressed by these eyeshadow duos—the pigmentation, shade combinations and gorgeous textures made them my favorite pieces of the collection. In particular, Indes Galantes was such a unique but gorgeous combination of shades that I think would make for an intriguing look. The gold shimmer in Quai Des Brumes is so fine and sparse, it’s pretty hard to even see any on the skin (I actually thought the flecks were just from it’s shimmery grey partner at first), but it’s still beautiful anyways!
The collection also features two Kohliners in Sichuan (a deep, rust brown) and Witching Hour (a shimmery charcoal). They both had really beautiful color payoff and glided across the skin with ease.
I think Sichuan would be a really interesting shade to wear alone on the eyelid (paired with a bit of mascara of course) while Witching Hour was a bit more universal and gorgeous for creating a soft, smoky eye.
Also for eyes, NARS has launched two sets of False Eyelashes. Numéro 9 is a subtle set to add a bit of volume for a glamorous look and Numéro 10 has a cascading gradiant that builds extra length and intensity towards the outer edges of the lashes for a seductive, cat-eye like effect.
I found the lashes to be really excellent quality and not overly dramatic. They’d be great for complementing any holiday look, but I’m still quite partial to using my beloved DUO Eyelash Adhesive, even if eyelashes come with their own.
The only thing that would keep me from these lashes is the price tag—I feel like quality lashes are so affordable these days so it’s hard to justify a luxurious set. Having said that, if you love the shape, feel and look of these ones, you won’t be disappointed.
This collection introduces four new (yet still limited-edition) high-pigment Moon Matte Lipsticks to the brand. The shades include Rouge Improbable (bright pink-red), Rouge Indiscret (deep blood red), Fearless Red (fiery red) & Indecent Proposal (nude rose).
These slim-tube lipsticks have a beautiful matte texture yet are formulated with hyaluronic acid to keep lips feeling comfortable and hydrated for hours. They have a soft, powdery texture that allows them to be blended and diffused for a modern, faded-edge effect (if you choose).
I found the red shades to be so incredibly similar, it was really hard to tell them apart (especially in the tubes). My favorite was Rouge Indiscret just because I found it to be the most flattering, cool-toned red of the group, but I also really loved the trendy rosy nude that Indecent Proposal offers.
The formula is really beautiful—I hope NARS brings these back in the future (with a bit more shade variety too)!
Last, but certainly not least, NARS offers a trio of beautiful red Nail Polishes in the collection. The shades include Flon Flons (bright pinkish red), Never Tamed (rich, geranium red) and La Dame En Noir (deep, burgundy red).
I’ve always loved NARS’ nail polish formula, and these three colors are perfect to complement any holiday soirée ensemble, whether you need a bright statement color, a classic red or a deep, sultry burgundy. I found La Dame En Noir to be a tiny bit streaky and would recommend doing three extra-thin coats rather that two regular ones.
