The NARS Spring 2013 Collection includes the NARS Duo Eyeshadow ($34 USD / $39 CAD) in Bouthan, a soft, feminine duo with a matte pale pink and a mid-tone pink with sparkle. The collection is full of vibrant hues, reminiscent of the 90’s, that creates a fun, graphic statement for the season. Available now at Sephora!
This particular eyeshadow duo is new to the line-up, and is here to stay. The sleek, black compact traditional of NARS Duo Eyeshadows contains and interior mirror and two eyeshadow pans; one soft, barely-there lilac pink with a matte texture, and one cool, rosy pink with silver sparkle. I really didn’t think I was going to like this duo much; simply because pinks aren’t always the easiest to wear… but the truth is, I’m quite in love with it.
The light shade is a tad chalky, but the pigmentation builds beautifully for a brightening base. The rosy pink has a bit of fall out, which is expected from the chunky sparkle, but when patted on the lid, it actually provides quite a bit of color. It’s not really an everyday eyeshadow duo… but something a little more romantic (I’m totally thinking Valentine’s Day); and paired with thick black eyeliner and perhaps some false lashes, you won’t have to worry that your eyes look bloodshot or tired.
The biggest problem I had with this eyeshadow duo is that the shades faded on me quite a bit; by the end of the day, there was a bit of pink remaining, but most of the light, matte shade had worn off. With a primer, the wear is increased dramatically, but I wish the texture was a bit more smooth to lock it in place.
Not my favorite from NARS, but certainly not the worst. If you’re looking to add some pinks to your collection, you may want to check these out. The cool undertones in the hues make them a lot more flattering on the eye area (however I’d still refrain from applying them on the lower lashline). I’ll be using this in an upcoming look; so stay tuned for that!
