Well, this is going to be a quick review. The NARS Spring 2013 Collection includes the NARS Soft Touch Shadow Pencil ($24 USD / $28 CAD) in Corcovado, a metallic, 24k gold shade. The collection is full of vibrant hues, reminiscent of the 90’s, that creates a fun, graphic statement for the season. Available now at Sephora!
This is my first NARS Soft Touch Shadow Pencil experience, and I must admit I was a little apprehensive at first because of reviews I’ve read in the past. I crossed my fingers, hoping my experience would be different, but unfortunately, you’ll hear the same grim truth from me. This pencil is pretty awful.
I love the look of the matte black pencil (resembling the Velvet Gloss Pencils for lips), and it really has a creamy texture like butter. But also like butter, it feels greasy, doesn’t set and just sits on top of eyelids. It goes on patchy, it fades almost instantly and this is the first eyeshadow pencil that creases on me. Unfortuantely, even Urban Decay Primer Potion couldn’t save this product. Nothing I tried could save this from happening.
I have super dry eyelids, so I usually never experience creasing, but within 10 minutes this shadow was smeared all over my eye, creased and fading. It’s quite unfortunate, because this shocking metallic gold shade is stunning! Unfortunately, I believe all of the Soft Touch Shadow Pencils have the same problems, so I would recommend passing on them and trying something better from the collection like the Bouthan Duo or Lipstick.
