Nip + Fab Dry Leg Fix Review, Photos & Swatches

Nip + Fab Dry Leg Fix

Lately I’ve been using myself as an experiment test subject, slathering on all types of creams, lotions and potions from Nip + Fab to see if they help me prepare for the warmer summer weather and (gasp!) bathing suit season. One of the products I’ve been reaching for has been the Nip + Fab Dry Leg Fix ($9.95 USD / $12.95 CDN), and so far, if our relationship was a Facebook status, it would be “It’s Complicated”.

The Packaging

This “instant leg smoother” comes in the typical simple and clean Nip + Fab boxes, however different from previous Nip + Fab products I’ve reviewed already, this one has green accent colors to show it is a body product. I love the consistency among the brand- the way all the products look and resemble each other so perfectly (but that just might by my OCD talking). The product itself comes in a large bottle with a squeeze-tube tip to dispense the product. Overall, standard body lotion packaging!

The Product

As with all the Nip + Fab products, this one makes some pretty big claims, like providing 24 hours of moisture and shine, promoting elasticity and softening the skin.  Basically this is meant only for legs, and I only use it after showering/shaving, because that is when my legs get super dry and itchy.

The reason I have a bittersweet relationship with this product is because I love how silky smooth and gorgeous it makes my legs look, with a subtle shine and satin feel… but it doesn’t feel like its hydrating deep down.  My skin almost feels a little tight still, but when I touch it, it feels super moisturized and silky smooth- it’s confusing!

One thing that I have noticed is that I feel like my legs are retaining moisture better than they used to. The product contains an ingredient called Aquaxyl, a restructuring component to improve water reserves in the skin, and while I’m usually quite skeptical of these types of claims, I must say I think it’s working. My legs feel less dry in-between showers and even post-shave, they don’t feel as dry and irritated as they used to.

The thin white lotion spreads easily and sinks in quickly, but the glycerin in the product leaves that silky smooth layer on top- so while it doesn’t feel greasy, it does leave a film on your legs.  The smell is incredibly hard to describe- the only thing I can think of is some fruity and floral scent that reminds me of these little bath oil capsules that I used to love squeezing when I was a kid.  It’s not that bad though!

Summary

  • Price: $9.95 USD / $12.95 CDN for 3.38oz / 100mL
  • Availability: Various retailers like Target and Shoppers Drug Mart
  • Selection: This is the only Dry Leg Fix
  • Overall: I love how silky smooth this leaves my legs! It doesn’t feel like the deepest hydrating lotion I’ve ever used, but I have noticed it helping my legs not to get so dry after my showers anymore.  A bittersweet relationship because it’s not the best, but I want to keep using it.

I totally understand wanting all your products to look the same- I’m that OCD too! Especially if they’re going to be showing, like on a shelf in the bathroom, they must match… Or be in the same color family, at least!

This does sound really great though, since I have such dry, irritated legs all the time. I mighty have to try it!

It feels like it isn’t sinking in, because it’s not. The third ingredient is mineral oil, which creates a barrier on the skin but doesn’t hydrate. If you applied a moisturizing product beforehand, this would seal in that moisture, but it’s not likely to impart much of it’s own.

This sounds like a great idea – moisturize then seal with something to protect it. I don’t think I’ll try this though because of the mineral oil in the ingredient :/

Interesting, maybe I will try a regular moisturizer first!

I don’t know, I’ve been a been a fan of my H20+ Moisturizing Body Balm at 8 fl oz / 240 mL. They so sink into my skin and retail for $12US or $16.50CAD BUT I also catch them on sale for $9CAN or BOGO Free. Not only do a use them but I give them as stocking sufferers every once in a while.

I’ll have to give this a try, I have keratosis pilaris (chicken skin) on the backs of my thighs and am experimenting with things to get rid of it. I tried the Dermadoctor one, but it smells ghastly.

doesn’t mineral oil cause allergic reactions?

it just isnt the best for you as far as ingredients go, but def in a lot of stuff.

Dry legs, that just sounds skeevy! I have a total pet peeve for dry flakey skin makes my skin crawl, no offense to anyone! I actually get it myself but still makes me feel like nails on a chalk board when I see it. Maybe have to give this a go!
