Lip balms are one of those things that you simply cannot have enough of (no really, how the heck to they vanish into thin air all the time)! I’ve always been a fan of Nivea lip balms- those Pearl n’ Shines always accompanied me to my beach vacations and soon afterwards became a summer bag essential. The latest release from the brand include these new Nivea Lip Smoothies ($2.99 USD / $3.19 CDN) available in both Acai & Wild Apple and Cranberry & Raspberry.
The Packaging
Nivea lip balms typically come packaged in sleek white tubes with a coloured cap, usually much larger than most other lip balms, usually spanning almost the entire tube. These Lip Smoothies are very similar, the only difference in packaging would be the slightly slanted top of the lip balm (doesn’t really change much though).
I find the caps to stay on quite well, and the twist-up mechanism has never given me any problems- so no complaints there!
The Product
These lip balms smell absolutely delicious! I’ve been hooked on making my own homemade fruit smoothies, and these smell just like them! It takes all of my will power (and common sense) not to take a bit out of ‘em. In fact, when they are on the lips, they don’t taste that good, so I definitely recommend just sticking to sniffing them. The balms have a marbled appearance to give more of a “smoothie” look and effect, but it really makes no difference on the lips.
They are packed with Vitamin C, E and B5 so they leave your lips smooth and hydrated! These balms also have the faintest hint of color (really its essentially clear on the lips though due to natural pigmentation), and with a gorgeous glossy sheen. On the lips, they feel slick and smooth… not sticky or thick at all. The price also makes them a total must-have, and very comparable to the already-famous Nivea lip balms on the market (these definitely smell the best though)! Available in two scents, Acai & Wild Apple and Cranberry & Raspberry- they both smell fantastic but I do prefer the Cranberry & Raspberry one if I had to choose.
