OB for shu uemura Pressed Eyeshadows

The OB for shu uemura 2013 Spring Sakura Collection includes eight matte shu uemura Pressed Eye Shadow Refills ($15 USD / $19 CAD), in both pastel hues and neutral shades. This limited-edition collection, inspired by Japanese artist OB, celebrates a new era in art with dreamy colors in a creative, fantasy world based on four Japanese princess characters. Available this month at shu uemura.

I have six of the eight eyeshadows to show you today. These eyeshadows are “refills”, and therefore they come as is, without any case or palette.  The collection does have the adorable shu uemura OB Custom Case Duo ($9 USD / $11 CAD) which fits two eyeshadows (any shu uemura eyeshadow refills will fit), which has a transparent lid and gorgeous detailing on the lid featuring OB’s design of the Cherry Blossom Princess.

The shades I have include…

  • M Soft Purple 716
  • M Soft Blue 630
  • M Soft Green 434
  • M Soft Beige 814
  • M Medium Brown 852
  • M Dark Brown 896

The eyeshadow shades really don’t need a description- their names truly say exactly what they are. All of the shades are matte, and I must say that I’m much more impressed with these single eyeshadow refills than the Unmask palettes from the Spring 2013 collection. These ones are super velvety- they almost have a creamy texture to them, and they are all beautifully pigmented. They apply like a dream and blend together beautifully. When trying out these eyeshadows, it’s no wonder that Karl Lagerfeld loves using shu uemura eyeshadows to sketch out his fashion designs.

I love that the collection has four pale, pastel colors that are perfect for Spring, but also four neutral tones for complimenting the colors or using on their own. I love M Soft Purple and M Medium Brown the most- I think the lilac hue is perfect for a soft wash of subtle color this spring, and the matte brown is the ultimate crease/contour color.

You can use these eyeshadow singles in your own free form palettes or any of the original Custom Cases from shu uemura… but it’s hard to pass up on the adorable OB design. Plus, when you’re done with the eyeshadows, you can pop in two different ones!

I am loooooving the pastel colors! I want them so bad! >< They're so dreamy and actual pastels! Unlike other brands that claim something is pastel but its a weird muted "dirtied" color =-='

The lighter shades are beautiful! I can’t believe how pigmented they are!

I’m sad that I can’t find them on the website, they look utterly adorable, particularly that matte pastel blue…
