The OB for shu uemura 2013 Spring Sakura Collection includes three shu uemura Rouge Unlimited Supreme Shine Lipsticks ($21 USD / $21 CAD), in soft, feminine hues that are perfect for Spring. This limited-edition collection, inspired by Japanese artist OB, celebrates a new era in art with dreamy colors in a creative, fantasy world based on four Japanese princess characters. Available this month at shu uemura.
Shu’s main Spring collection may have gone a little color-crazy, but this secondary collection exhibits color in a much more soft, feminine and wearable way. These shu uemura Rouge Unlimited Supreme Shine Lipsticks are not only one of my all-time favorite products from the luxury brand, but each one of these colors from the collection is perfect for the Spring season. They come in the same packaging as usual, just with a cute OB design on the tube.
The shades include…
- Dream Orange: Soft, coral orange
- Sakura Pink: Baby pink
- Princess Coral: Juicy, coral pink
The formula is a medium coverage, buildable color with a high shine finish. They glide on like butter (think of how silky the YSL Rouge Volupté lipsticks are… these are a bit like those) and hydrate lips instantly. The glossy finish is really gorgeous, and helps lips feel super comfortable, but it does feel a little bit like it sits on top of the lips.
These lip colors kind of need to be treated a little more like a gloss, because they aren’t invincible and will smudge fairly easy. On the other hand, they feel so dreamy and luxurious! The colors are stunning! I love each one of these fresh, feminine shades. Sakura Pink is possibly my favorite, but Princess Coral comes close in second place. These colors probably aren’t the most universal though (especially with Sakura Pink, which is probably best just for fair to light skintones).
While they lack substantial staying power, they compensate with a creamy texture and light finish. If you prefer comfort over longevity, you’ll love this formula (I love a glossy sheen to my lip colors, so these are totally up my alley). It doesn’t settle into lip lines and it helps hydrate to plump up lips. Just adding one or two of the shades from this collection can completely turn around your makeup routine for a fresh look this season.
