Pantene Introduces NEW Damage Detox Collection (and Re-Formulates All Other Collections Too!)

Detox. It was in everyone’s New Years Resolution list and you’ll probably start seeing that “D” word popping up everywhere with Spring around the corner too. We’ve become obsessed with clean slates- detoxing our digestive system to rid it of contaminants and detoxing our skin to remove impurities. Whether it’s a juice cleanse or a clay mask, the word detox seems to be an accepted (and even praised) ritual in society today.

Now, you can detox your hair too.

Think about it… all of the styling products you apply, the natural oils that surface and the daily pollutants that accumulate in your lovely locks (doesn’t make them sound so lovely, does it?) can cause build up. Do you really know if you’re getting all of that junk out? I thought I was until my hairdresser showed me how much build-up I had at my roots- it was shocking.  Luckily, the new Pantene Damage Detox Collection landed on my desk just a few days later (like it was a sign)!

Not only do we damage our hair with heat tools, brushing and chemical treatments, but it has been found that oxidative damage occurs as well.  Without getting too deep into a science lecture, Pantene discovered that copper (which is found tap water) contributes to oxidative damage to hair, causing protein loss. This damage actually perpetuates the vicious cycle by absorbing more copper and causing more oxidative damage over time. The “antioxidants” in this new Pantene formula help to reduce the levels of copper, thereby slowing down the oxidative damage process and actually making hair healthier-looking with each wash.

The “total wellness” collection includes a daily Shampoo and Conditioner, as well as a weekly Deep Cleanse Shampoo and Weekly Rehab Creme. The weekly products are my favorite in the line- with an ultra-purifying shampoo formula to rid your mane of product build up and a supremely hydrating crème to repair damage that’s already been done. The collection works well as a whole, but I’d recommend adding the weekly Deep Cleanse Shampoo to any hair care routine once every week or two. My hair feels light-as-air afterwards, but it really does strip down your hair… so use it sparingly!

Pantene was so excited about their new discovery that they decided to also re-formulate all of their existing hair care collections to include the antioxidants found in the new Damage Detox Collection. If you’re already a fan of the brand or you’re looking to switch things up, give the new & improved formulas a try.
