Quick Tip for Enhancing Light Lipgloss

Some of us out there have pretty pigmented lips, which can sometimes make it a bit harder to enjoy some of your light-coloured or sheer lip glosses. My favorite trick?  Pat a nude lipstick on lightly to help tone down your natural lip color…not to the point that you’re muting it out, but just a few shades lighter so you can see more of the pigment in your lipgloss. My lip pick? MAC Creme d’Nude lipstick- it is a Cremesheen formula, which allows it to go on lighter and its even a bit moisturizing itself.

how does creme de nude compare to blankety and fleshpot? those make me look like all the blood drained from my face (i’m super pale)

    • Jessica Allison

Creme de Nude and Fleshpot are somewhat similar in tone, both leaning toward the warm side. Blankety is much cooler and has a bisqey-gray undertone. You might find Creme de Nude more wearable though, because as Jessica mentions, it’s coverage is more sheer than both Blankety and Fleshpot (opaque pale shades are tricky shades to work with!)

As counter intuitive as it may seem, I find choosing a slightly deeper-than-nude shade works best for the “nude” lip on pale skinned gals (I’m extremely fair myself). One of my favorites is Estee Lauder’s Pinkberry. You wouldn’t think “nude” looking at it, but top it with a pale pink or champagne gloss & it’s the perfect non-corpsey nude lip!

If I’m wearing a light gloss, I’ll skip my lip balm. Then, while I’m putting my foundation on, I’ll let it get on to the lips a little bit. I don’t intentionally smear it on, but just what lands there while I’m blending my foundation in. (Does this make sense? It’s a little hard to explain) However, this doesn’t work great with full coverage or matte foundations!

I use Blankety for this. I tried Creme d’ Nude and I can’t tell you exactly why I didn’t like it on me but it was screaming all kinds of wrong to my face. Then tried Blankety and it just worked! Both as a “tone-natural-lip-color down” and as a nude lipstick. And it’s SO moisturizing! I believe it is an Amplified?

It’s such a lovely colour! really need to try it out
