Quick Tip for Minimalistic Manicures

I love getting my nails done, but I’m just not so patient when I do it myself. Coat after coat, bottle after bottle- sometimes it can get a little confusing (and not to mention expensive for all the different products)!  I like to use a multi-functional product like Essie All In One Base Coat or OPI Start To Finish.  These products work as a base coat, nail strengthener, nail growth enhancer and sometimes a top coat too.  It’s nice to have it all in one bottle- really takes the guess work out of doing your nails…especially when we know the hardest task of all is choosing which color to wear :)

I usually trim my nails are short as possible and file them. This way I can get away with not having to cut my nails the next time I change my polish!

glitter nail polish seems to stay on my nails foreeeever. plus when it chips it’s less noticeable. easy peasy done, :)

      Great tip!!

My poor paper thin nails just won’t hold on to polish, no matter what I do. My minimalistic manicure is the same as JL’s, above me. Glitter polish! It may chip after a day (or an hour, lol), but it’s not noticeable at all. Lately, my go-to has been China Glaze Snowglobe!

OMG I want that one so bad- do you do a base coat and top coat too? I find that REALLY helps with chipping!

Wearing nude/neutral colors because if it chips its barely noticeable and it just makes your nails like nice and fresh.

It’s funny you mentioned this ’cause I got a similar product last week as my old base coat was too goopy to work with.

If you really want a minimalistic manicure go for the nail strips! Talk about no drying time.

Great tip- how long do they last on you?

      • Wendy

Well, I have nails that chip like crazy (after a couple of hours) and on top of that I’m really rough with my hands (washing and what not) but these lasted a solid four days which is a lot to me, I have friends who’ve said that they lasted 10 days though!!

I just bought the nail polish strips and they’ve last for a week already with only very minimal chipping. This is such a nice surprise because I was sure they were just a gimmick.

I get where you’re coming from. Ive bitten my nails my whole life, and they looked awful. The only way to stop bitting them is keeping them done, but barely ever have the patience to do so. So, lazy tricks are super helpful to me!

Well thats good! I’m the same way, you can actually get a nail polish that tastes really bad to prevent you from biting them!!

neeeeeeed! thank you for adding this to my list haha

And as it is a blue based nail polish it contrasts also stained and yellow nails ;)

I am a chronic color changer. I can’t stand chips so I change my polish frequently. Not good for the lazy type, but a fun way to switch up your look!
