Just as Marc Jacobs Beauty re-introduced his new line of lipsticks (if you haven’t seen the Le Marc Lip Crèmes yet, check them out), he gave his lip gloss a makeover too. The new Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquers ($28) are all about packing incredible shine into each chic tube.
With 18 shades available in a variety of shades and textures, each with names inspired by Marc Jacobs’ favorite music, there’s something for everyone. Most of the colors are quite sheer and look deeper in the tubes—take a look at the swatches to get a better idea of how pigmented each of them are. There is an impressive array of nudes, which I find most lip gloss collections lack—in particular, Moonglow, Sugar Sugar and French Tickler would look great on top of one of MJB’s New Nudes Sheer Lip Gels. The bright and dark shades are a little more pigmented, so they’ll have more of a payoff on their own.
The texture is the perfect balance of comfort and long-wear. It isn’t completely sticky-free, which I’ve come to appreciate (totally non-sticky lip glosses disappear on me within an hour). On the scale of stickiness from 0 to MAC Lipglass, I’d say these fall at about a 7 or an 8. They are still totally comfortable, but you can feel that there’s something on your lips.
The shine is absolutely beautiful—especially the glosses with a hint of shimmer to them. They make the lips look so glamorous and multidimensional. The formula has a slight mint scent, which is probably what I dislike most about them (I’m not a fan of mint-scented things), however it does wear off within a few minutes of putting them on, so it’s something I can deal with.
My favorite shades? I think French Tickler, Pink Steam and Pink Flamingo are must-haves (for those of you that light pale pinks and soft lavenders). If you’re into bright shades, you’ll love Whip It and Hey You!, too!shop this story
