Does your skin crave moisture, and crave it now? After I wash my face, within 3 seconds I can already feel my skin calling out for hydration… so if you’re similar than you might want to check out this Sephora Instant Moisture Kit ($28 USD / $34 CAD). The kit is brand new, although the two products inside the handy re-usable pouch have been in the permanent Sephora Skincare collection for a while.
The Packaging
The dynamic duo come in a transparent, re-usable plastic pouch. I love these bags for travelling because they are super easy to clean in case you have a little spill, and the see-through packaging makes it easy to quickly locate exactly what you’re looking for. Plus this bag is fairly big, so you can hold a lot inside! I can definitely get all my travel essentials inside, so this is going to come in handy when heading over to LA for IMATS next month!
The Moisturizer
The first item in the kit is the Sephora Instant Moisturizer (which normally goes for $20 USD / $24 CAD on its own), with the tagline “If you only try one” (hinting that its the one to try in their entire line). First off, I adore the packaging of the new Sephora skincare products. The jars look totally luxurious, modern and clean…something I’d love to have sitting on my bathroom vanity. The moisturizer is a thick, white cream that holds its shape well (you can even turn the container upside down and it won’t budge). It states that it is “oil-free” however if you read the annotation, it says formulated without mineral oil.. so it’s not entirely oil free.
The moisturizer itself is super hydrating and thick, which I love for a night cream… I’d skip on something this texture for daytime and opt for a lighter lotion. My problem is… I can’t actually use it on my face. The fragrance is just way too strong… seriously like, you know those scented lotions that come in fragrance gift sets? It smells that strong. It’s a beautiful fresh, clean smell… but there’s no way my sensitive skin would go for it. So, bad for my face, but my hands are totally loving their new luxurious hand cream. If you don’t mind fragrance in your face cream, then this one probably won’t be a problem.
RATING: C+
The Eye Gel
The second item in the kit is the Sephora Instant Depuffing Roll-On Gel (which goes for $15 USD / $18 CAD on its own), for a fresh and bright eyed look. This product is a totally different story for me, hands down I’m head over heels in love with it! If you remember not too long ago, I raved about the Hard Candy Eye’m Tired which is a roll-on serum (and packaged almost identically to this one), however I’m definitely loving this one more. The formula is a gel, so its much easier to squeeze out the amount I want and the triple roller-ball applicator massages it into my skin so nicely. It’s seriously like a spa experience every time I use it (I had no idea how tender my orbital area was until I started using this- and it feels so nice each time to give it a little more TLC). I don’t experience a lot of puffiness with my eyes- my main concern is dark circles and hydration, which I think the product does so very well. I wish that it would have more long-term anti-aging effects in it. I use it both in the AM and PM, and I find that my concealer actually looks even better and more smooth since I’ve been using it! Definitely a must-have in my skincare routine now!
RATING: A
Summary
- Price: $28 USD / $34 CAD
- Availability: Sephora
- Overall: I’m a huge fan of the eye gel, and it has become an integral part of my daily skincare routine! The moisturizer is thick, creamy and hydrating like I usually love, but the fragrance was just too strong for my sensitive skin… so because though the formula is great and i’ll be using it as a hand cream. I do love the re-usable bag they come in for travelling, however because I only really love the eye cream I’d rather just buy it separately for $15 USD / $18 CAD
- Rating: B- (for the Kit, individual products rating above)
