When we found out Sephora Pro was collaborating with one of the most in-demand makeup brush brands out there, our jaws dropped. Hakuhodo established itself as an authority of brushes for both cosmetic use and in calligraphy – very logical extensions – in 1974 and has become increasingly popular thanks to the high quality, handmade aspect of the brushes it produces. The Japanese brand is steeped in tradition, using meticulous production methods in its core brush range, and those very techniques have been extended to this collection with Sephora Pro.
The Hakuhodo + Sephora PRO Collection consists of five brushes that serve multiple functions depending on how you choose to use them. The Kotsubu brush is a highlighting brush designed to be used with both powder and liquid formulas, while the Kusuriyubi brush features an angled tip that would be useful when applying eyeshadows on the lid or concealer to the undereye area. The Ougi brush is meant for application of blush, bronzer and contouring shades to the face, with a tapered edge to softly diffuse color with ease. The Otsubu brush features a pointed tip for blending or applying setting powder to targeted areas of the face, while the Kusabi brush is an angled powder brush best for applying powder foundation to the face and body.
All the brushes are made from patented, super-soft synthetic bristles that have been specially designed for this collaboration between Hakuhodo and Sephora PRO, and the brush shapes are unlike those offered in Hakuhodo’s permanent range, making these brushes extremely covetable.
The brushes retail from $30 to $54 each and are available now online at sephora.com for VIB and VIB Rouge members (available soon for all)!shop this story
