Six metallic, gem-inspired nail polishes have launched at Sephora as part of the Sephora + Pantone Universe Alchemy of Color Collection for Fall 2012. These beautiful bottles (that remind me of ice cubes) each present the stunning fashion forward shades for fall with that signature clean and simple look that all of the Sephora + Pantone Universe collaboration products have.
These Sephora + Pantone Universe Jewel Lacquers ($9 USD / $11 CAD) have incredible color payoff, as do most metallic polishes, and they also dry quite fast! I’ve been painting my tips with two shades from the collection; Evergreen, a deep and rich metallic green as well as Rose Dawn, a light rose gold shade. I’m happy to see that the price tag isn’t outrageous on these products, because they are so pretty I can definitely see them being collectors pieces (especially for Pantone fanatics)!
I did talk about how Essie Penny Talk was the perfect rose gold shade (part of the Essie Mirror Metallics Collection for Summer 2012), and for those who want to know how Rose Dawn compares, it’s much more pink than Essie. I still think that Rose Dawn looks fantastic for a rose gold shade, but next to Essie Penny Talk, it looks more like a baby pink (so if you’re debating between the two, go with Essie for the best rose gold effect).
The brush is a simple, standard nail polish brush (not extra wide or short… similar to the Sephora by OPI brushes).
The quality is excellent, as I mentioned these metallic polishes have great pigmentation (2 coats is perfect, but you could even get away with one coat). I do find that metallic polishes do chip on me a little faster than regular polish, but I get about 3 days of wear on these without any chipping. The other colors in the line (including duochromatic and ‘matte’ metallic shades) look fabulous, so I definitely want to check them out as well!
Summary
- Price: $9 USD / $11 CAD for 0.37oz
- Availability: Sephora
- Selection: Six shades (see them all here)
- Overall: I’m really loving these polishes- not only are they really good quality with excellent pigmentation and a beautiful, metallic finish… but the bottle is absolutely beautiful too. The Sephora + Pantone Universe packaging always looks so chic and modern… and I love the cube-type bottles these are in!
