Before you read this review, do yourself a favour and go grab a piece of chocolate. You’ll need it once you’re done.
These are two of the three stunning Shu Uemura Eye Shadow Palettes ($85 CAD each) for the upcoming Chocolat-Donna Collection for Fall 2012, available August 2012. I absolutely love the packaging of these eyeshadow palettes; not only does the case look like something you would take home from Godiva, but the individual eyeshadows look like luxurious chocolates (especially with the gold overspray)!
Each palette contains six chocolate-inspired eyeshadows in a refillable case. Each palette has three unique shades (related to the palette name), as well as three chocolate hues to compliment. They may look the same in each palette, but they are slightly different. The golden overspray is also just that- an overspray, and rubs off with the first use.
The Orange & Pistachio Palette is definitely the most striking out of the three, and I cannot wait to replicate the promo image look! The colors are contrasting, unexpected and vibrant! The palette includes a warm, coppery orange with flecks of gold glitter, a pistachio green with micro green sparkle and a satin peach shade as the main three colors. The chocolate hues include a frosty taupe, a rich matte brown and a deep matte plum shade.
The Raspberry & Mocha Palette is the most soft & neutral out of the three; featuring a rich glittery golden brown, a frosty rose pink and a frosty pale lilac as the main shades. It also has a rich plum, mid-tone brown and matte blackberry shade as well.
The third palette, although I don’t have it, features icy mint and creamy vanilla tones.
The eyeshadow formula is incredible. Pigmented, buttery, blendable and super rich- I’m head over heels for these eyeshadows. The formula in itself is actually very long-wearing as well, lasting throughout the day without fading, even without an eye primer! The only issue is that the glitter shades are very glittery… so you have to be willing to work through some fall out to get the look you want. They are the most rich glitter eyeshadows I’ve seen though, almost has if they are full of moisture, and not dry at all.
These little palettes are gorgeous indulgences, and I’m happy to see consistent quality throughout each shade. The palettes are small enough for traveling, and I love the fact they are refillable too! Stay tuned- I’ll be creating looks with each of these palettes very soon!
Now… where’s that piece of chocolate?
