The shu uemura Blossom Dream Collection for Spring 2013 includes the shu uemura Unmask Palette in Blue ($65 USD / $85 CAD), a 5-piece matte eyeshadow palette in yellow & blue hues. The colorful array for pastel floral shades and varying textures of this collection was inspired by budding flowers and features a modern interpretation of the legendary “unmask” logo to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the brand. The collection is available now at shu uemura retailers.
This eyeshadow palette comes in a sleek, rectangular white palette with a pink and blue design on the lid, featuring the modern unmask logo. The palette opens to reveal five matte eyeshadows (two larger base shades and three smaller accent shades) as well as a long, skinny mirror. I prefer the square eyeshadow palette over these long, rectangular ones… however I do find these are great for storage and travelling because they are so slim!
The shades in the palette include:
- UB1: Light, nude beige
- UB2: Pale, butter yellow
- UB3: Pastel, aqua blue
- UB4: Vibrant, ocean blue
- UB5: Pale, soft lavender
This palette was the worst out of the three in the collection. I found the pigmentation to be consistently poor, with none of the shades really excelling in their texture. They are smooth and not chalky, but the color payoff just didn’t transfer from the palette to the skin- and for a palette with a price tag like this, you’re going to want (and should expect) a quality palette. It’s too bad because I think this palette is the prettiest, and the pastel blue, lavender, yellow and beige are lovely for the Spring season.
I’m quite disappointed with this one- especially because I’ve never been disappointed before in a shu uemura product! As gorgeous as it is to look at, I have to recommend to pass on it and look else where this season. If you’re really stuck on picking up one of the Unmask palettes from the collection (perhaps as a collector’s piece), check out the Pink Palette, which was the best by far.
