The Shu Uemura x Karl Lagerfeld Collection for Holiday 2012 includes two Shu Uemura Karl for Shu Eyelashes, including a Premium pair (shown here, $75 USD / $75 CAD) as well as a Mini pair (not shown, $30 USD / $23 CAD). This collection features color selection and package design created entirely by Karl Lagerfeld, the creative director for the legendary fashion house of Chanel. The collection is available for purchase this month online, and in stores November 2012.

Shu Uemura is notorious for creating bold, fantasy-like lashes… so when combined with an artistic mastermind like Karl Lagerfeld, of course these are the lashes that were created.  I only have the Shu Uemura Karl for Shu Premium Eyelashes here, but the collection also includes a pair of demi-lashes (you can see them here) that are much less intense.. in fact, they look quite wearable!

These lashes feature the black, white and red colors of the collection, housed in a large Mon Shu box.  I believe the lashes are fabric, but they are quite stiff.  They look much more heavy than they really feel, but they are very big.. so trimming is most likely necessary (always trim from the outer edges)!  The lashes are embellished with red jewels, and the pattern is the same on the under side of the lashes.

Are they funky? Yes. Are they artistic? Yes. Are they practical? Not at all. These are what I like to call ’costume lashes’… not something you’d wear to a fancy event or night out… but something to make a statement. Now.. if that justifies a $75 price tag, that is up to you.

• Overall: Funky and artistic, but totally not practical. They are pretty heavy, but not as heavy as they look.  Made out of fabric with red jewels, these lashes are definitely ‘costume’ lashes.  The price tag is pretty extravagant, so I probably wouldn’t recommend them. I do however love the look of the Mini lashes, and I definitely would splurge on them over these (plus, it’s much less of a splurge)!
