When I heard that Sigma Beauty were releasing new attachments for their Cleansing & Polishing Tool, I was quite excited to check them out because although I thought the tool was an affordable alternative to some more expensive exfoliators, I found all of the heads to be way too abrasive for my sensitive skin. These brand new Sigma Beauty Cleansing & Polishing Tool Spa Solutions Attachments ($29 USD or purchase them with the original tool for $59) work on the existing tool to give you more options. Let’s check them out!
The Packaging
The three attachments come neatly packaged in a very sleek pink box that looks very similar to the original packaging of the tool. The pamphlet that I received with mine wasn’t actually in the product box, it was it the shipping box because it was actually too big for the box itself. My biggest gripe with the packaging is that there’s really no direction for these attachments. They aren’t like the original bristles, so I think they would require some extra how-to or explanation on how to use them but really there’s not much besides a sentence each on what they do (not howto do it).
The Attachments
There are three attachment heads in this kit, and I’m happy to see that they do have a variety of heads for both face & body. These attachments include the following (along with really the only written information/direction on the packaging):
- Extra-Soft Brush: Recommended for gentle cleansing of extra-sensitive skin. Silicone.
- Massager: Maximizes absorption of skin care products and stimulates skin circulation. Silicone.
- Exfoliator: Best for removing dead skin cells to reveal healthy looking skin. Pumice Stone.
The Extra-Soft Brush
This brush head is very different from the ones that came in the original kit. It’s made out of silicone so they are very flexible and soft, and a lot shorter in length than the original ones that felt like toothbrush bristles. I was extremely happy with the way this brush worked, because the previous brush heads were just too harsh for my sensitive skin- my skin didn’t even turn red after I used this brush. My skin felt smoother afterwards as well. It was a little more difficult to clean post-use, the cleanser seemed to be a little more difficult to get out of the bristles but overall it was a much-needed addition.
The Massager
I was quite confused with this attachment head. “Maximizes absorption of skincare products”…I really didn’t know how to take that, so I tried it a few ways. I tried applying my moisturizer with it and massaging it in, but that didn’t work at all. So then I also tried massaging my face after my skincare products were applied, and it just made my skin peel a bit with the products…it was just weird. I’m not sure if they are going to release the ‘proper’ way to use it…but that is a solid example of why there should be more direction on the packaging. It did feel pretty nice around my orbital bone and eye area though!
The Pumice Stone
I was probably most excited for this attachment because I needed it so badly! While it doesn’t leave the same results as taking a Ped-Egg to your dry, callused feet- I think this is the kind of tool that is best for daily use to maintain soft, smooth feet. It’s just too gentle to really scrub off calluses and when you press down harder when the tool is in motion, it just stops the rotation. I found myself turning the tool off and just scrubbing at my feet with it because the soft rotation wasn’t doing enough on its own. Once my feet were nice and smooth though, it’s great for daily use. I use it for a few minutes before bed every night now and slather on some cream…my feet have never been softer!
Summary
- Price: $29 USD (or you can get the original tool and these extra attachments for $59)
- Availability: Sigma Beauty
- Overall: Love the pumice stone and extra-gentle brush attachments! Not so crazy about the massager and I feel like the product needs more instruction and information on how to use the products, not just what they do. A much needed addition to the original Cleansing & Polishing tool.
