How-To: Starfish Accent Nail Art

essie Starfish Nail Art

Essie’s Spring 2016 collection has to be one of my favorite color stories of all time. Between the tropical manicure we already posted and this adorable starfish accent nail art, the colors work just as well together as they do on their own.

This fun nail art is perfect for a beach vacation (which is exactly what the entire Spring collection was inspired by) or just to celebrate the warmer weather. Essie Global Lead Educator Rita Remark created this cute starfish accent nail art manicure using three shades from the collection. This one is super easy to re-create and a great way for beginners to get into nail art. Keep scrolling to see exactly how Rita created this look!

Use a striping brush to create the arms of the starfish with Sunshine State of Mind, a beautiful vibrant orange. Rita chose to only decorate two nails on each hand to keep it more of an ‘accent’ look, but you can paint them onto as many or as few nails as you like. For a modern look, try creating the accent nails on different fingers for each hand!

Rita encourages you to “go with the flow” with these starfish—in fact, the less perfectly-straight the arms are, the more realistic they will look. Create a few partial starfish designs on a couple nails too!
