While Satsuma is basically the scent of our youth (one of my first jobs was at The Body Shop, so that rings especially true for me), with age, we’ve developed an appreciation for some of the British brand’s softer scents as well, such as Shea and Cocoa Butter. Now, The Body Shop is introducing a new delicate fragrance with their Almond Milk & Honey body care range.
What makes this new line extra great is that it’s been developed specifically for sensitive skin. The soothing formula has been dermatologically tested, and the fragrance is hypoallergenic. It’s also free of colourants, mineral oil and petrolatum.
True to The Body Shop’s core values, the star ingredients come from the brand’s community-trade partnerships. The honey is sourced from an Ethiopian group that focuses on sustainable harvesting, and the almond oil—a new ingredient for the brand—is produced by farmers in Spain’s Alicante region. The addition of almond oil takes The Body Shop one step closer to its goal of doubling its number of community-trade ingredients by 2020.
The line features four different types of cleansers, offering options for every lather style. If you seek exfoliation, the Gently Exfoliating Cream Body Scrub ($24) contains crushed almond shells to gently remove dead skin cells. Bonus: Rather than the usual gel texture, this one is creamy for extra soft skin.
For a quick clean in the shower, there’s the Soothing & Caring Cleansing Bar ($5)—perfect for anyone who likes the convenience of a bar but hates that tight feeling most of them leave behind—and the Soothing & Caring Shower Cream ($10), which, again, has a rich creamy texture that feels way more luxe than our usual foaming gels.
To really treat yourself, run a bit of the Soothing & Caring Bath Milk ($15) under the faucet as you fill your next bath. Soaking in the moisturizing natural oils is hands-down our favourite way to enjoy the new collection (let’s be real—it makes us feel like a modern day Cleopatra).
Of course, the new Almond Milk & Honey line includes one of The Body Shop’s iconic Body Butters ($21). The dense cream promises to deliver moisture for 48 hours. The Soothing & Restoring Body Lotion ($13) offers the same long-lasting claim, but in a lightweight, fast-absorbing texture.
Finally, there’s also the little metallic tube of Calming & Protecting Hand Cream ($10), something we find ourselves reaching for over and over again as winter decides to stay and chill. The recent cold snap has our knuckles cracking, so we especially appreciate that this formula is designed for sensitive skin.
