A few weeks ago I had the amazing opportunity to travel to the UK with The Body Shop (did you know their headquarters are in London?) to learn about product innovation and upcoming launches.
First, we headed to Stanbrook Abbey in Worcester to get immersed in the English Countryside. The former 16th century monastary was converted into a chic hotel several years ago (it’s quite popular for weddings now) and was the perfect retreat to get immersed in what The Body Shop had to share.
Editors from all over the globe gathered in pyjamas and slippers for a gourmet vegetarian dinner, then headed to a cozy tent for our ‘slumber party.’ We learned about the five new Face Masks hitting stores in September and of course, tested all of them out.
The five formulas are perfect for multi-masking and addressing a variety of skin concerns—I’ll be sharing more about these masks soon!
The next morning, we learned about the new makeup products launching soon as well as tips and tricks from The Body Shop Makeup Artist, Lisa Houghton.
In the afternoon, we packed up and headed to Castle Farm in Herefordshire to visit the organic farm that grows the beautiful English roses for the new British Rose range.
We met Emma, the incredibly passionate and lovely farmer who grows the roses and she explained how the roses are grown, handpicked, dried and infused into a concentrated rose essence right on the farm. It was an amazing experience and yes—walking through the rose field smelled just as amazing as you would think.
Next, we headed to the buzzing city of London. We had a free day to explore the city, which I was so happy to do as it was my first time in the UK! I was such a cliché tourist and visited Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and Westminster Abbey as well as a full tour of the city on a red, double-decker bus.
The next day, we had the opportunity to get a (very) early sneak peek at some of the upcoming gift sets and launches for Holiday 2016. In typical The Body Shop tradition, we learned about their incredible charitable initiatives for the holiday season. This year, for every gift purchased, The Body Shop will help restore one square meter of rainforest Bio-Bridge—thereby helping to preserve the life of the animals, insects and plants within it. To celebrate their initiative, they re-created a jungle for us to venture through (they actually used part of the set of the recent Jungle Book movie—it was a real rainforest!) to discover some of the most exciting launches for Holiday.
You can look forward to three new scent collections—Spiced Apple, Frosted Berries and Vanilla Chai—all of which I think are some of the best festive scents I’ve ever smelled; a few new SKU’s to join the Spa Of The World collection (including three amazing candles); personalized body butters and THREE advent calendars! I have yet to receive official word on what will be available in North America, but my fingers are crossed that all of these amazing sets will be here for the Holiday season. Also—apologies the pictures aren’t very clear… apparently the lighting situation in the rainforest isn’t optimal for photography (haha)!
