The Too Faced Holiday 2012 Collection includes the Too Faced Glamour To Go Spun Sugar Edition ($22 USD / $29 CAD), a small palm-sized compact with 8 eyeshadows, 1 bronzer, 1 highlighter and 1 lip gloss. This limited-edition, indulgent collection features palettes and sets in rich chocolate and candy-coated hues and is available now from Sephora.
The palette has a beautiful sculpted packaging lid with an interior mirror, and the product is found in two stacked layers- eyeshadows on top (visible upon opening the palette) and then face & lip products that are revealed when pulling out the bottom drawer.
This palette really proves that big things come in small packages- imagine all the possibilities with these 8 neutral eyeshadows! They range from light, golden hues to deep smoky shades- all of the shades are quite frosty which really gives the ‘spun sugar’ name it’s meaning.
The majority of the eyeshadows are beautifully pigmented, but I found it to be somewhat less impressive than the Shadow Bon Bons Palette (which totally blew me away). I’m in love with the shade selection… but I would have loved to see a few matte or satin shades in the bunch to give variety.
The highlighter is a pale pink, shimmery powder- it really doesn’t deposit much pigmentation, but quite a bit of sparkle. This product would be great for a holiday party or special event, but it’s a little too flashy for an everyday highlighter (a little too much visible shimmer).
The lip gloss, unfortunately placed in between the highlighter and bronzer, is essentially a clear, glittery gloss. It has a hint of a golden color, but goes on clear on the lips. It has no scent or taste and feels nice and smooth on the lips (not gritty or sticky at all). I found the gloss to disappear really quickly- after having used the palette only 3-4 times the gloss is about half gone! Plus, the positioning of a gloss without a protective cover means powder fall out from the neighbouring face products is inevitable and it can get messy if you’re not careful.
The bronzer is really beautiful- probably one of the best products in the palette. It’s beautifully pigmented and has a hint of golden shimmer. The hue is not too warm nor too muddy, so it looks great for a natural-looking tan shade. Make sure to blend well, and stay away from contouring with this shimmery shade.
Summary
- Price: $22 USD / $29 CAD
- Availability: Sephora
- Overall: A cute, tiny palette with a lot to offer- it’s quite a disco ball though, so if you’re not a fan of looking sparkly then stay away from this one. The eyeshadows are fairly well-pigmented, but not the most impressive that I’ve seen from Too Faced this holiday season. The highlighter is a little too sparkly for everyday, but the bronzer is lovely and the gloss adds a nice, universal touch to any look.
- Rating: B+
