Top Pick: Eye Primer

I don’t even remember when I started using the original Urban Decay Primer Potion ($20 USD / $24 CAD)… sometime back when it came in that genie-bottle tube with the straight doe-foot applicator (the one that wasted like half the tube), but I’ve been a fan since the first time I tried it.  I know there are a lot of other great eye primers out there, but this one has just been my go-to since the beginning (if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it- right?)… I recommend it to all my friends, and since they starting selling it in the squeeze-tube now, it’s much more easy to use!

There’s a reason this primer has won countless awards and been raved about by top beauty editors everywhere- it truly works. It can turn a $2 eyeshadow into one that looks like a $20 eyeshadow. It keeps eyeshadows (even creamy ones like NYX Jumbo Pencils) totally crease-free, vibrant, budge-proof and just overall better.  It’s seriously one of the best investments you can ever make for your makeup!

What’s your top pick for eye primer?

I’m a UDPP girl too! I got a small tube with the Naked palette and couldn’t believe I had lived so many years without it! I recently laid my hands on NARS Smudge Proof though, just to see how/if they’re different! Many have sworn THAT’s the best primer they’ve tried so I got curious!

I too started out with the Urban Decay primer (in that same genie bottle tube,) it was actually the first item I ever bought from Sephora! I have now switched to Kat Von D’s High Voltage Eye Primer…I love it! Works just the same in my eyes. :D

I use Nars’ primer and have been for a while, but like Sunny, I got a small tube of the UDPP with my Naked palette and fell in love. I can’t remember because it was so long ago, but I’m pretty sure it was every bit as good as my Nars primer–and I remember really liking how easily it spread out and how it dried to a completely invisible finish (sometimes if I apply too much Nars primer, I get this slightly whitish cast on my eyelids). Now that I think about it, I’m not sure why I didn’t just purchase the UDPP instead of another tube of the Nars after I was done–after all, it works amazingly well and is cheaper for more product…I think it was just out of habit? I think I’ll finally repurchase once I’m done with this current tube of Nars (which should be any day now…)

I used Urban Decay Primer Potion for years, I tried Sin and Eden as well and I was not a fan as the colouring effected the longevity. Eden also texturized my lids in a scary way, making them look crepey in texture >_<.

I switch to Too Faced Shadow insurance for 2 years and now I stuck on Lime Crime Eyeshadow Helper. It long wearing and intensifies the shadows.

I have been using this primer for years as well and rave about it to all my friends! I’ve tried to use a few others, but I find myself always coming back to this particular one. It doesn’t crease like the rest of the ones I’ve tried do. Primer really makes your eyeshadow colors pop and look so much nicer than if you were to apply the shadow without primer. If you haven’t tried it yet, you def. should!
