Top Pick: Full Coverage Foundation

Top Pick: Full Coverage Foundation

95% of the time, I reach for light, weightless, sheer-to-medium coverage foundations. But the 5% of the time that I’m either going out for the evening, heading to a special event, or just having a bad-skin day… I reach for Vichy Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation 16HR ($29.50 USD). This foundation is the most intensely pigmented foundation ever (literally a pea-size amount is needed for your entire face and neck).

When applied correctly (I like using a damp beauty blender or a damp synthetic brush), it blends in beautifully and gives your skin the most flawless look ever. It does leave you looking ‘flat’ because it covers everything, so make sure to contour to give dimension to your face again.

What’s your top pick for full coverage foundation?

I use almost exclusively full coverage foundation.

Tatre Amazonian clay 12-hour full coverage foundation SPF 15. Love this foundation Fair is still to dark on me but it a lot lighter then MAC NC15.

Graftobean Hi Def Glamour Creme and Mehron Celebré Pro HD Make-Up I’ve been using this lately.

I prefer to the Celebré Pro formula (feel do nice on the skin) but the palest shades are all pink tone so I’ve been only using Eurasia Ivory as a highlight. The shades of Graftobean Hi Def Glamour I have is Ivory, Graceful Swan and Ingenue (to dark lol)

Kett Fixx Crème Makeup Foundation I have is O1 and O3. I found O1 still a little to dark for me during the winter but it a true match to my Olive Fair skin tone. The only time I an get them at reasonable price is during IMATS as most place only offer $50 wholesale shipping rates to Canada. >_<

Hi! Seems like you’re a fair girl like me! I use Graftobian in Porcelain (Lightest neutral shade) Do you think there’s a match in any of the other foundations you mentioned? I love the color of the Graftobian foundation but it tends to accentuate any dry spots…Have you tried Keromask? Is it good?

Celebré Pro formula their palest shade might work for you in Light 1 or Light 2.

Fixx Crème Makeup Foundation N1 which is their neutral shade should do you nicely.

Tatre Amazonian clay coverage foundation in Fair might also work for you as i leans a little more neutral then their cool tone shades. But again if you can test this one out in a Sephora store.

Because I’m olive tone skin I can’t go neutral without it looking too orange to pink most of the time.

MAC Full Coverage because it’s a great value and whenever I use it I don’t need to use concealer or any redness correcting primers! I like using a 130 brush and spraying the pan with Fix+ to make it easier to work with.

I LOVE using the Vichy Dermablend concealer underneath my CoverFX powder foundation, it’s matte and oil-absorbing all day over my acne scars!

I’ve actually never used a full-coverage foundation before. Like you, I much prefer a pretty light coverage foundation. Light-medium is good, too. If I’m having a bad skin day, I just use some concealer (which I don’t use on a regular basis, even though I probably should). I think my main thing is, I don’t like for my face to look too perfect. Obviously I want perfect skin naturally, but I don’t think a heavy foundation can give that to me. I always feel so…fake when I’m completely covered up

I just can’t love this foundation. It’s too heavy for me and the wonderful coverage was not worth the mask like look or the oily reaction my skin had. I didn’t like the feel of it on my face at all.

I’m glad I tried it though, because I’d never tried a full coverage foundation before.

I like Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer (SSE). I found a link to a beauty blogger’s page that had approximate matches in MAC, MUFE and Illamasqua terms, which allowed me to nail the shade on my first try.

Aucoin’s SSE is perfect for me right now because I’ve developed sudden onset melasma. While I hate the feel and look of full coverage foundation (I’ve had a porcelain, almost translucent, complexion my entire life), I find that Aucoin’s SSE doesn’t give me the death mask appearance that other full coverage foundations can give. I’m thrilled to have such a high quality product that matches my skin tone so well until the melasma clears.
