When it comes to varying opinions… I don’t think any makeup product is as ‘controversial’ as setting powder. Some makeup artists swear its necessary and some won’t touch the stuff. I tend to fall somewhere in between, where I like to use it because I do prefer a matte finish to my skin.. but I also don’t like looking chalky. Transluscent setting powders can look a little chalky, so I tend to stay away from them… but I just can’t say no to the Vichy Dermablend Setting Powder. It goes on very transparent and locks makeup in for 16 hours. No smudges. No budging. No jokes. It just works.
I like to dust it lightly all over to set my makeup and lock it in… but if you have oily skin, I recommend using the powder puff to apply a heavy amount of powder all over the face, let it sit for a minute or two, then use a clean fluffy brush to dust off the excess. I did this for bride with super oily skin and she stayed looking flawless and shine-free all day!
Another honorable mention is the Ben Nye Banana Powder, which has a yellow tint so it’s better for deeper skin tones and works pretty well to set makeup.
