Top Pick: Under Eye Concealer

The delicate skin under your eyes is so different from the rest of the skin on your face- which is why many use a separate moisturizer for their eye area (it is the first part of the face to age). I also believe it’s important to use a separate concealer, not only to correct the different discolouration (relative to blemishes, scars, rosacea, broken capillaries, etc) but also because of the different texture. I’ve been using the MAC Pro Longwear Concealer since it was first launched by MAC… and I’ve never found anything that tops it!

This concealer lasts all day, doesn’t crease (in fact, it’s so crease-resistant, I sometimes use it as an eye primer as well) and it looks natural. I use an NW shade (pink undertone) to counteract the blue undertone in dark circles for a more natural appearance. The application takes a little while to perfect- it sets fast, so I prefer to use thin layers (about 2-3) to build coverage under my eyes. It’s the only concealer that doesn’t crease on me. The ONLY one.  The coverage isn’t the best, it’s about medium, but the staying power makes it worth it. If I’m having an extra bad dark circle day, I’ll pop a little Bobbi Brown Corrector on top of the darkest areas too.

Ge one of thier slip salmon ones. I got the light/medium one and I mostly use the medium shade but the light comes in hand for blemishes.

This is my HG under eye concealer! I have to use a thin layer of Bobbi Brown’s Corrector and then a thin layer of this and BAM! Dark circles be gone!! I love it and will never be without it!

The best coverage I get on my undereye circles is from Laura Geller The Real Deal concealer in Medium. My circles are reddish-brown so the yellow tones in Real Deal help brighten things up. A close second is Laura Mercier’s Undercover Pot.

I admit: it’s a good one. But there are things I don’t like why I don’t use it frequently. The packaging is terrible. A glass container – so fregile – I can’t take it with me because I’m scared it will break ad ruin my bag. I don’t want any extra-baggies because MAC isn’t able to make it better. And the pump is horrible. I’m not able to get the right amount easily. Usually I have to pump gently 100 times or I have enough to cover my whole face. This handling issues make me leave it in the tray and use another product.

But I also don’t like super-coverage under the eyes as well. I think it makes my eyes look smaller. So I like concealers with more reflextion and less coverage. At the moment I like ESTEE LAUDER the most, because it lasts a long time and doesn’t crease as well.
