This Spring, Urban Decay is taking a trip down memory lane with the re-launch of the Urban Decay Ammo Palette ($34 USD / $40 CAD). Since Urban Decay re-formulated their eyeshadows, they made the (excellent) decision to re-launch the iconic Ammo Palette, a collection of 10 best-selling eyeshadows. The palette also comes with a mini Urban Decay Primer Potion (an everyday essential for me) and is available now at Sephora.
The palette is quite small and fits nicely into the palm of my hand. The front of the palette has a gorgeous skull design and an interior mirror. The palette has a magnetic closure system, and inside you’ll find the 10 eyeshadows along with a mini eyeshadow brush. If you’re an Urban Decay fan and you’d love to have some of their all-time best-selling shades, this palette is a no-brainer!
The shades include:
- Smog: Deep, copper bronze
- Mildew: Mossy, green shimmer with gold reflect
- Oil Slick: Matte black with silver micro-glitter
- Last Call: Metallic plum
- Chopper: Copper shimmer with silver micro-glitter
- Maui Wowie: Metallic, golden beige with silver glitter
- Shattered: Turquoise shimmer with gold reflect
- Polyester Bride: White, snow shimmer with silver micro-glitter
- Grifter: Sheer, lavender shimmer with silver micro-glitter
- Sin: Champagne shimmer
There’s a fairly good variety of eyeshadows in this palette in terms of color, but not so much for texture. While the palette has both neutrals and colors, lights and darks… it seems to be mainly shimmer and glitter shades. While it may not be the most self-sufficient palette, it is nice to have a collection of the most popular shades to use in conjunction with other products.
The pigmentation is pretty awesome- only a few of the shades were slightly less impressive (Polyester Bride and Gifter needed the most building), but really the biggest complaint is the amount of glitter. I do think that the new, re-formulated eyeshadows have less fall out than before when it comes to glitter shades (I’m looking at you, Maui Wowie!) however it’s still inevitable when using eyeshadows with this texture.
The brush works fairly well, but I probably would just prefer a smaller palette without the brush (and of course, a little cheaper too please)- I just find that it’s unnecessary. If you have the original palette, you might not need to run out and grab this one if you’re happy with it… but for those who want to try the new formula, you won’t be disappointed! A great collector’s piece too.
