Urban Decay Moondust Palette Review

Urban Decay Moondust Palette

When it comes to glitter, I find most people either stay as far away as possible or they can’t ever get enough of it. The Urban Decay Moondust Palette was made for the latter group.

This eye palette features eight brand new shades of Urban Decay’s much-loved Moondust Eyeshadow formula (each pan is a little less than half the size of a single one). Although this palette will bring joy to glitter lovers everywhere, those who are a little more hesitant might still enjoy them thanks to the refined, smooth texture and sophisticated sparkle.

The shades include:

  • Specter: Soft pink
  • Element: Peachy orange
  • Magnetic: Purple with blue sparkle
  • Lightyear: Green
  • Granite: Black with multicolor sparkle
  • Lithium: Iridescent brown
  • Vega: Bright blue
  • Galaxy: Smoky blue-gray

The shades themselves are quite pigmented so they can be used on their own, but I like to layer them over other shades for a pop of sparkle (a great way to incorporate a little bit of glitter without going crazy). My favorite shades are Lithium and Galaxy (neutrals, go figure!) because I feel like they elevate a smoky eye with a single sweep.

The formula is quite smooth and applies nicely without too much fall-out, since they are formulated without super chunky glitter. I do recommend doing your eyeshadow before the rest of your face makeup or at least using an eyeshadow guard. Also, using an eye primer is a great way to make sure the shades stick to your eyelids so it doesn’t all end up on your cheekbones by the end of the night.

The case itself feels sturdy and has a large interior mirror as well. If you’re into colorful glitter with a sophisticated sparkle, you’re going to love this palette. My one big gripe with this palette though? The price difference from USD to CAD. The palette retails for $49 in the USA and $70 in Canada—that’s a huge difference and unfortunately quite typical of Urban Decay.

The Urban Decay Moondust Palette is available online now at Sephora.
