Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup

The first time I caught a glimpse of the new Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup ($38 USD / $45 CAD) was at IMATS LA back in June! I was standing at the Urban Decay booth, when I suddenly noticed these gorgeous bottles of liquid foundation that I had never seen before, and I knew I had to have it!

I’m always on the hunt for the best foundation- something to even out my skin, hide flaws and brighten my complexion all while being totally undetectable. Just like many others, I just want my foundation to make me look like I have amazing skin. This new complexion perfecter from Urban Decay has been getting rave reviews- so of course I had to try it out!

This medium, buildable coverage foundation comes in a huge range of shades for both yellow-based skintones (shade numbers that end in “.0″) and pink-based skintones (shade numbers that end in “.5″). I have shades 2.0 and 3.0, so they are both yellow-based, but you can see from the swatches that one is definitely more golden than the other (which isn’t a problem- it’s just something to keep a look out for when choosing your shade).  It’s packaged in a sleek-looking bottle with a pump-top dispenser (awesome!)- I find I need two pumps for a decent coverage of my whole face.

I was really amazed at just how light the makeup felt. Yes, it’s called a “weightless” foundation, but I’ve heard that term thrown around quite a bit before so when I actually felt like there was nothing on my skin, I was pleasantly surprised.  I love the “demi-matte” finish, as the brand likes to call it, which basically means it isn’t shimmery or pearlescent, but is has a slight glow (similar to that of natural skin).

As I mentioned, the coverage is medium, but buildable. I like to apply it with the new Urban Decay Good Karma Optical Blending Brush ($24 USD / $26 CAD), which is a dome-shaped synthetic-fiber brush (very similar to the Sigma Beauty F82, only not as dense).  It works so well with the product, blending it into the skin flawlessly- leaving behind no brush streaks or patches. It’s super soft too!

The texture is quite thin- I actually feel like this foundation is very comparable to the new Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen WOW Liquid Makeup, only I find this one has better coverage.  It didn’t feel drying, but it didn’t feel greasy or overly hydrating either- the perfect balance… essentially, that second skin we all want.

You’ll have to go over with a heavier concealer for very dark circles, blemishes or scars, but overall it does a pretty good job.  It doesn’t need to be set with powder either- I actually prefer it without, but if you have oily skin then you may want to.

It doesn’t give me perfect skin, but it sure makes me look a lot better, without looking like I have makeup on.

Summary

  • Price: $38 USD / $45 CAD for 1oz / 30mL
  • Availability: Sephora

  • Overall: This new foundation is definitely one to give a go if you’re looking for a medium (buildable) coverage foundation that feels super light on the skin and has a natural finish that really looks like bare skin. I love the huge range of shades, the hygienic packaging and the invisible finish. I love applying it with the new Good Karma Optical Blurring Brush. You won’t be able to skip the concealer for trouble spots on this one, but it’s a great foundation for everyday.
