New this fall, the Vichy ProEVEN BB Cream ($35 CAD) takes the multi-tasking, skin-enhancing “BB Cream” to a whole new level. As a part of their new ProEVEN line, these BB Creams not only help to instantly smooth the skintone, diffuse imperfections and boost radiance, but they help to improve the skin tone over time with extended use.

Available in two shades, Light-Medium and Medium-Dark, this formula contains pure mineral pigments, vitamins and SPF 20 to protect skin.  The tinted formula evens out skin tone and hydrates lightly as well. All in all, the formula is fantastic! It feels great on the skin, has decent pigmentation and I love the fact it includes ingredients to improve skin tone over time… but there’s one problem.

The Medium-Dark shade is grey… like, really grey.

If you have very fair skin, the Light-Medium shade would be perfect for you. It has a healthy neutral undertone (but it is very light… I wouldn’t consider it to be an appropriate shade for medium skintones). On the other hand, the Medium-Dark shade is a) not medium or dark.. it’s still quite light and b) it’s very ashy. Yellow undertones are the most universally flattering, so I’m not sure why they went with such a greyish tone. Slightly more pink, it might be able to work for some… but it was not flattering no matter how I used it.

Other than the issues with coloring, the formula is great! The non-comedogenic, hypoallergenic and sensitive-skin friendly product is great for all ages. While they are supposed to ‘adapt’ to the appropriate skintone, I just wasn’t impressed. I’d much rather see more shades in the range, especially with a fairy well-pigmented product.

• Overall: The formula is fantastic- it feels light on the skin and provides fairly good pigmentation. I like the fact it helps to even out skintone with use over time… but I just can’t get passed the greyish undertone in the Medium-Dark product. The Light-Medium is also very light. I wish Vichy would have a better shade selection as I think this BB Cream could be excellent with proper undertones.
