Youngblood Lipstick in Tangelo Review, Photos & Swatches

Published On January 27, 2012 | Reviews

It’s evident we’re swooning over anything tangerine right now, and this Youngblood Lipstick in Tangelo ($19 USD) is the perfect lip color to rock the bold lip trend.  It’s available in March as part of their Spring 2012 line- but here’s a sneak peek!

The Packaging

I love the simplistic design of Youngblood packaging- it’s very Bobbi Brown-esque with a black & white design and sleek satin black tube (I think it makes a striking contrast against the tangerine lipstick, which I love).  The cap has a good firm closure, which I always check for- because no one wants their tube of lipstick rolling around unprotected in the abyss known as the bottom of one’s purse.

The Product

One of my favorite parts of testing out new products is finding unique formulations- products that are different from the rest.  This is one of them.  The lipstick feels like a gel-cream, the pigmentation is incredible and it wears beautifully. No bleeding, migrating, drying out- it really feels super comfortable and smooth on the lips.  It leaves a beautiful glossy sheen and stays put for hours.  It didn’t pass the eating/drinking test, but the pro’s of a comfortable lipstick far outweigh the ability to stay on throughout lunch to me anyways.

The color is outstanding- it’s really the perfect color for spring, especially since this year Pantone announced that Tangerine Tango is the ‘color of the year’.  This shade is going to be popping up all over stores & makeup counters in spring collections.  Its a creamy orange with a hint of coral and a satin texture finish.  The lipsticks are lanolin-free and made with a blend of oils and minerals.

For $19 USD, you are looking at a higher end price tag for this lipstick, however like I said before, the texture feels unique and it wears so beautifully, I don’t mind paying a bit more for a lipstick that is going to actually be different from all the others I own.

Summary

  • Price: $19 USD
  • Availability: Youngblood, March 2012
  • Overall: In love with the formulation- comfortable gel-creme texture, high pigmentation and unbelievably comfortable with above average wear-time (aka everything you could want from a lipstick).  The shade is perfect for Spring, and even though the price tag is pretty steep it’s worth it to try out a new formula!
