I’ve raved about Youngblood’s mineral foundations in the past- their original loose formula is one of the most amazing mineral foundation I’ve ever used (and I’ve gotten lots of friends hooked on it too)- but I still wanted to try their cream-to-powder foundation and see how it compares. My skin gets super dry in the cooler months, so I stay away from powders as much as I can… so I decided to give the Youngblood Mineral Radiance Crème Powder Foundation ($56 USD) a go.
This product is a compact cream, available in 8 shades, that glides on smoothly and sets to a luminous, powder finish. The texture of the cream is actually very ‘wet’, it’s almost hard to describe. It feels quite thin to the touch, despite being a cream.
It feels really nice when applied to the skin, but I just didn’t feel like it blended well enough into my skin. It’s like I could see it sitting on top, no matter what I used to apply it (I tried the included sponge, two different foundation brushes and my fingers- nothing worked)! It also really didn’t cover any of my imperfections very well, it’s almost like it spread around them. In short, the texture, coverage and wear was just odd.
It’s definitely a lot lighter than many compact cream-to-powder foundations I’ve tried, but I’ve never really found one that I loved, including this one. Also, keep in mind that the Youngblood shades look a lot darker than they go on. I was surprised to find this shade in Barely Beige looked like it would be too dark for me, but then went on about 2 shades lighter than my skintone.
I really wanted to love this foundation but I guess I just wasn’t meant to be a cream-to-powder girl. Unless you’re a huge fan of these types of formulas, I’d save your pennies and just go with any of their other formulas (which are all fantastic).
- Price: $56 USD for 0.25oz / 7g
- Availability: Youngblood
- Selection: Available in 8 shades
- Overall: I’m really not a fan of this foundation, despite loving all of their other formulas! This one had an odd, wet texture that didn’t really cover well and seemed to sit on top of my skin instead of blending in. I really would recommend their other liquid or powder formulas over this one.
