Yves Saint Laurent Summer 2013 Terre Saharienne Bronzing Powder Review, Photos & Swatches

Yves Saint Laurent Terre Saharienne Bronzing Powder in Nº 20 Terre Ochre

The Yves Saint Laurent Summer 2013 Collection features three Yves Saint Laurent Terre Saharienne Bronzing Powders ($50 USD / $60 CAD), including this mid-tone shade in Nº 20 Terre Ochre.  This collection takes inspiration from the subtle palette of warm tones and contrasting waves of twilight seen during sunset. A variation on torrid, golden hues and cool touches of violet, coral, fuchsia and green, this breathtaking collection will be available in May 2013 (but you can already check it out online).

This matte bronzer has a beautiful brown & gold detailed compact lid, along with the traditional velvet pouch from YSL. The powder itself is long and narrow (actually the perfect size and shape for a large, paddle-brush to sweep up some product) and it has an embossed YSL motif within the powder. These bronzers are new basic shades in the permanent line-up, so take your time if you need to ponder about them!

As I mentioned, this shade is one of three in the collection (this one being the middle shade).  The lighter shade is a little more neutral while the deeper shade has a little more of a red undertone to it. This shade is quite yellowish, which unfortunately I’m not a huge fan of. It’s not a bad bronzer, I just think either the lighter shade or darker shade would be a little more flattering on my skintone, as this one comes off a tad orange.

The texture is quite nice though- very velvety and soft, and it blends really well on the skin. It also lasts all day, which is great (fingers crossed it stays put throughout the hot summer heat)! This bronzer can be used all over to tan the skin, it can be used on the high points of the face to give a natural, sun-kissed glow or it can be used to contour the face because it has a matte texture to it. It looks very natural on the skin too, which is nice!

I definitely want to go check out the deeper shade when it hits counters over here- I think it might be a little better suited to my skintone in the summer!
